These images are from original photos by me, Rosy Campanita. I am a documentary photographer whom recently started to turn my photos into screen prints. I create the image and proceed to traditonal screenprinting process to start to end, from sourcing 100% cotton shirts and quality clothes to creating the film and finally printing it using high quality Japanese waterbased inks onto fabric.
Welcome Y'all to our shop!
Hello my name is Rosy Campanita, and Im a 2-Spirit-Queer Artist that started to raise Axolotls since when they first hatched from eggs over 5 years ago. The name "Axolotl" comes from the Mexica(a.k.a. Aztec) language, "Nahuatl". One of the most popular translations of the name connects the Axolotl to Xolotl, a strong mystical dog diety, while the most commonly accepted translation is "water-dog" (from "atl" for water, and "xolotl", which can also mean dog).
Axolotls are an endangered
species due to the human induced pollution and water contaminations in their original home lake Xochimilco, in central Mexico. Myself along with other artists and craftspeople created Rebel Axolotl Collective 3 years ago to create awareness of these special unique creatures. We vend at markets, Powowows, and other cultural venues. Sales from shopping here will benefit to the care and maintenance of my 9 axolotls + Future Conservation efforts in Mexico , as well as any creative projects.
Thank you.
